Albuquerque Mouse

In order to eliminate pests like rodents from your home, you need to understand the symptoms of an infestation. Here are a few of the most common symptoms that you should look out for.

Your Real Estate Infrastructure

One of the major symptoms of a rodent infestation is problems with your home’s infrastructure. In order to make a home for themselves, rodents have to ruin yours.

Holes

If you see small holes burrowed into the bottom of the wall, then you likely have a rodent infestation. In describing what this symptom looks liks, the old Tom and Jerry cartoons are actually quite accurate. You may also see unexplained streaks on your wall. Rodents may get behind your wallpaper and leave waste or scratch up the lining from behind.

Other Symptoms

If you are experiencing unexplained power outages or breaks in any of your electrical services, you may have rodents chewing at your power lines. Keep this in mind if you call your cable or power company and they have no explanation as to why you are the only person on your block with no service.

Use Your Senses

You must stay vigilant when it comes to catching the symptoms of a rodent infestation. Some of these symptoms are quite small, but they can be quite telling.

Sight

Small droppings in random locations around your house are a very telling signal that you may have a rodent infestation. These droppings will be too small to be left by your pet. They may appear overnight, because rodents tend to be much more active when the lights are off and the house is still. You may actually never see them in the morning, so watch for droppings if you are suspicious.

Smell

If you smell a sour or pungent odor around your house for no reason, it may be rodent urine. Do not cover up these smells with air spray products until you can locate the direction of the smell. Rodent droppings also smell like any other natural waste product.

Although you can take many actions on your own to prevent infestations, if the problem gets too intense, call an Albuquerque rodent control expert immediately! Infestations can quickly escalate from a slight annoyance into a real health issue without proper and timely maintenance.
